Humanitarian response to the Türkiye-Syria earthquake
On 6 February 2023 a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern and central Türkiye and northern and western Syria, followed by a second 7.5 magnitude earthquake, located around 95 kilometers to the southwest. Recorded as one of the strongest in the Levant, the devastating earthquake and major aftershocks have caused a great loss of life and suffering. Over 50,000 people have lost their lives and estimated 26 million people across Türkiye and Syria have been directly impacted.
In the aftermath, millions of people worldwide have joined forces to help in any way they can, assisting in rescue efforts and providing emergency medical treatment, shelter, food, warm blankets and winter kits.
FinExpertiza Cyprus Team, as well as our families and our friends, are taking part in humanitarian mission to provide essential support for survivors who have lost their homes, belongings, livelihoods and loved ones, through Cyprus Red Cross Society and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
Please consider joining the international aid efforts – your contribution is of great importance and will provide relief to people affected by the earthquake.
